Jenifer Fruit Registration Scholarship for Clinical Educators

University of Pittsburgh Teaching Conference

Jenifer Rae Powers Fruit (August 4, 1984 – June 4, 2016)

Jenifer Fruit completed her undergraduate work at the College of Wooster in 2006 and went on to complete her AuD at the University of Pittsburgh in 2011.  She was a valued member of the audiology team at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center and dedicated her time and energy to clinical instruction, mentoring many very fortunate students.  Jen’s dedication to expanding and improving clinical instruction by coordinating activities between the clinical and academic programs permeated all that she did.  Jen was an integral part of the University of Pittsburgh teaching conference and always kept a focus on including clinical instructors in the faculty and audience, always reminding us that our clinical instructors are an essential partner in AuD education who also want to apply evidence-based techniques in teaching.   To honor Jen’s legacy, the University of Pittsburgh offers a free registration for one clinical instructor interested in the topic area being offered at the University of Pittsburgh Teaching Conference.  This individual’s primary employment should be in a clinical setting and he/she should be involved in the clinical instruction of AuD students on a regular basis.  This scholarship is reserved for individuals who have graduated with their AuD in the past 10 years.   This is our way of honoring a colleague whose absence continues to be felt keenly by the Pitt and UPMC community.
